The flower is painted at its brightest, most unguarded moment — yet dark, spreading shapes already press in around it, brightness and disappearance held in the same instant, the way an eclipse holds both. Look again, and the bloom isn't just pretty: it's caught mid-passage, most alive exactly as it begins to be lost.

I’ve always been fascinated by how eyes can hold emotion without saying anything. This portrait started from that interest in a gaze that feels both vulnerable and quietly resilient. Emerging from darkness, the little girl carries a certain roughness, while her eyes remain clear and unwavering. The strength in them is not loud, nor does it ask to be witnessed. It simply endures, direct and deeply alive. I was drawn to the contrast between fragility and resilience, shadow and presence. More than anything, I wanted the gaze to carry a sense of spirit, something alive that refuses to disappear into the dark.

A quiet celebration of togetherness, inspired by the calming rhythm of swimming fish. A gentle reminder to pause, breathe, and discover peace and joy. Simply being in good company is enough.

This oil painting explores the quiet warmth of anticipation and the universal human desire for connection. The title ? (pàn) signifies an active, hopeful waiting, beautifully anchored by the imagery of a dark teapot and empty teacups prepared for an impending arrival. Set against a backdrop of glowing lanterns and wish papers, the scene captures a threshold where the sacred and the everyday meet.Driven by a striking contrast between deep shadows and radiant, fiery light, the visual narrative mirrors how hope illuminates uncertainty. The expressive, textured brushwork brings the ceramic pot and fluttering papers to life, grounding a fleeting emotion into something tangible. Ultimately, the piece invites viewers to pause in this luminous, comforting space, reflecting on the beauty of holding onto a wish and waiting for the light to return.

Inspired by a visit to the Peranakan Museum and a kebaya I saw there, this painting explores the meeting point between heritage, humanity and technology. Thinking about Peranakan identity, shaped by cultures coming together and evolving over time, made me see heritage as something living rather than fixed, something we continue to carry forward and reshape.
In the painting, a girl in a traditional kebaya and sarong watches as her reflection breaks into digital fragments. The image is not meant as either a celebration or a warning about technology, but as a quiet question about how it may shape our memories, creativity and sense of self. The exposed linen brings this digital language back to the physical act of painting, while the butterfly hints at transformation and an uncertain future. At its heart, the work asks how we can move forward without losing touch with what came before.

I started this painting not long after Chinese New Year, when mandarin oranges were everywhere and the festive season still lingered in my mind. Having made Singapore home, I find myself noticing how ordinary objects can anchor us to a place. The rooster bowl is one of those objects that carries more than its function, holding quiet associations with home, food, family and shared memories. I wanted to look at these elements not simply as nostalgic symbols, but as things that remain present in everyday life. For me, the piece is about how culture settles into the daily objects around us, and how a sense of home slowly takes shape.
Painted with KCK Acrylics, this artwork brings together a Singapore subject, a local artist and a homegrown art brand.

Tea? captures a quiet moment of rest. The title comes from a simple and familiar question: “Tea?” — an invitation to slow down, sit together and share a moment of connection.
The painting reflects how a small gesture, like sharing tea, can bring warmth, comfort and meaning to everyday life.
